Jo has been burning for less than 2 years. She was inspired by pyrographers from around the world, and although her intent was to mimic some of their styles, she found the more she burned, the more her own style evolved. She has a studio in her own home. She hosted the FIRST ever – “MidWest Pyro-Fest” in Abilene, Kansas. "There were several members from the Woodburner site that kept talking about an east coast and west coast gathering. Those groups never have pulled one off. We, in the middle, set a date (which the 5 of us instigators knew we could make) and off we went! That was Aug 25,26, 27, 2006. The big goal is to get others aware of Pyrography. Almost everyone I talk to assumes it is something that was done as a child in BoyScouts. (I was never a BOYscout – so didn’t even try it then!) This fall I will begin setting up regular class times to teach pyrography" |
